Wrens' Surprise!

We have been reading the story Handa's Surprise as part of our Food and Farming topic. After we had read the story, we tried some of the different fruits that Handa put in her basket...

Some of the fruits were very tasty...

...some were not!

We thought of adjectives to describe what the fruits looked like, smelt like, felt like and how they tasted.

Which was your favourite fruit?

Exploring onomatopoeia!

We had lots of fun today preparing for writing our weather poems. We learnt all about onomatopoeia and thought about which words sound like different kinds of weather.

Here are the zig-zag books we made!

We shared our books with our friends...

Which of these words will you use in your weather poem?

A letter in the post!

A very exciting event happened this week in Wrens! Look what came in the post:

What a lovely letter!

Nick also sent us some tips to help us write really interesting stories (just like he does!) and we are going to try out his ideas very soon - you never know some of us may grow up to become authors one day!

What story ideas do you have?

Why not write some stories of your own? Share your ideas with the grown ups at home - they might have some good ones too!

How to create a class of Twits!

The Wrens have begun sharing Roald Dahl's The Twits story.

In order to become Mr Twit, they took photos of themselves using the iPads...

...then added some extra hair in lots of places!

Some of us really got into character!

Take a look at the transformations!

Our work is on display in our classroom. Come and take a look!
