A trip to the fire station

Yesterday the Wrens and Year 1 Robins went for a tour around East Harling Fire Station.

Firefighters Paul and Ray showed us around.

Before we could go any further, we had a talk about how to keep ourselves safe:

Ben spotted a photograph in the fire station. Paul told us it was a photo of one of the biggest fires that there had ever been in Norfolk:

This is where the hoses are kept on the fire engine:

The jaws of life:

The firefighters have to wear these cylinders on their backs if they go inside a building that is on fire. They carry oxygen so that the firefighters can breathe:

We got to sit in the back of the fire engine. The steps were very high up!

We climbed down safely just like the firefighters have to:

Off drove the fire engine. This time it was just going into the station yard so we could take a closer look...

...and have a go at squirting the hose!

Did we do a good job of cleaning your car Mrs Baker?!

Next we heard the loud siren and saw the lights flash!

Back inside the fire station we got to take a closer look at the clothes the firefighters wear:

Who is hiding under there?

A very special thank you to Paul and Ray for making our trip to the fire station such fun.  Thank you also to all the adults who transported us there!
